Alas, the Tritonites Club has finally came up with a program for all our faithful Mitsubishi Triton owners! A good team up with our Penang 4x4 Club brought us on a Road Trip to the famous exotic Koh Samui last weekend in May 2008. This getaway has taken us away from all our respective worries & anxieties for around 4 days 3 night and we are pretty sure that all Tritonites have enjoyed every bit of their adventure here. We started quite early at 7 a.m on Labour Day - a good way to celebrate 2008 Labour Day by putting down all our labour and going away for a relaxing weekend with our loved ones. We were divided into 3 groups - separated by colours with our Mitsubishi Tritons forming the bulk of the Blue Convoy with 6 units in the group. With Convoy Leader Charlie Charlie in his dashing white Triton leading the way, we reached the border in one hour time where we joined thousands of Malaysians jamming the Immigration counters to take a break in Thailand during this long weekend. It took us almost 2 hours to gather again on Thai's side of the border before we 'rushed' to Nakhon Si Tammarat for our lunch. |

The wheather was also not in good mood and it rained cats and dogs throughout our rounds inside the town. There was nothing much we can do and at last, we had our simple dinner inside Tesco Hypermarket which was directly opposite our hotel. During dinner I found that most of the local food here is not HALAL and I also doubt that food served in hotel would be different. Thankfully our Muslim Tritonites knew about this issue and did not join us or else, they would have great difficulties to find food in a place where we don't speak or read Thai. 02.05.2008 Morning Call was on 8 a.m with breakfast being provided by the hotel. We started our journey to a pier in Danau for us to take a ferry into Koh Samui. The organiser has planned everything in advance as we drove into a specially charterred ferry to avoid anyone being left behind if we were to |

fight frieght spaces with the Thais who were driving into Koh Samui at the same time. The ferry trip took us a little more than 1 hour and soon, we found ourselves surrounded by crystal clear water and beautiful white sandy beaches were within our sight from the ferry. After being 'unloaded' from the ferry, it took us another 45 minutes of driving to go over to the East side of the island to Samui Plaza - near the famous 'Chaweng' Beach, the hotel where we would be staying for the next 2 nights. Once on the island, we were free to do anything that we like. Yes... Almost anything! The food there were quite cheap considering Samui is a famous tourist spot in the world. We went for hmmm..... TomYam seafood and would you believe it if I told you it only cost around RM85.00 for 4 person? Along the mainroad of Chaweng, there were endless row of shops selling a great variety of things to the tourists. Business were buzzing even till the wee hours of 12 a.m. where shops selling food and drinks were still operating. Affordable massage services were available as well and indeed, it was a great place to relax! |

Good time always seemed to pass very fast and in a nick of time, we found ourselves packing our bags to leave for home. Though homesick, we were quite reluctant to leave this paradise so soon. We had great time, enjoyed great food and made some great friends on this wonderful trip to Koh Samui. This trip would give us some good memories as well as good experience on how to organise other Road Trips in the future. As Tritonites Club continue to grow in strength in term of our membership, we hope to go on another Road Trip with more Tritonites Club members so that we can improve our bonds and friendship which we foster through this special model of Mitsubishi Triton. |
